From 25 to 29 May 2026 HUMANBIZ joined 22 other Australian approved employers at the PNG–Australia Approved Employer Expo, hosted by the PNG Labour Mobility Unit under the theme “Strengthening partnerships and expanding opportunities for Papua New Guinea”. The opening ceremony brought together representatives of the governments of Papua New Guinea and Australia, including the PNG Treasurer, Hon. Ian Ling-Stuckey, and the Australian High Commissioner, Mr Ewen McDonald.

The first day showcased PNG’s workforce capability and the partners in its labour mobility ecosystem — government departments, training providers and the recognised recruitment hubs across the country. We also visited the pre-departure skills training centre in Port Moresby, where candidates practise the workplace skills they will use in Australia.

From 26 May the employers split into two groups to visit the provincial recruitment hubs in Wewak and Kokopo. HUMANBIZ travelled to Kokopo in East New Britain, where the hub team walked us through the worker journey: pre-screening, preparedness, training partners and the impact of the scheme on families and communities.

The week closed with an evening hosted by the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea. It was an honour to be part of the occasion, and we are grateful for the warm hospitality shown throughout. The relationships built during this week led directly to our first PNG cohort arriving in Victoria in July, and to our return to Port Moresby in September for the next round of interviews.
